Gaining laboratory experience as an undergraduate is the best way to determine whether you want to be a professional researcher. Regrettably we don't have as much capacity to train and mentor undergraduates as we would like. We consider interns on a case by case basis and apologize that we cannot reply to every inquiry. The Institute for Regeneration Medicine has created a portal to register your interest: https://ucsf.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3ejWj03DRRLAI3s

Although we occasionally accept high school students for unpaid internships, we encourage future scientists to apply for funded summer programs in which our lab participates, such as Amgen Scholars and the Summer Research Training Program.
